There was Eru, the One, who in Arda is called Ilúvatar; and he made first the Ainur, the Holy Ones, that were the offspring of his thought, and they were with Her before aught else was made.
And in the Darkness Ilúvatar sang, and Her voice rang out upon the Deep.
And in Her song were five colours: blue, white, brown, black, and grey.
And as the colours flowed with the Dawn, they spread across Arda like the dew, forming five puddles.
Melkor took one puddle by storm of flattery and deceit, leaving four.
And from each puddle sprang one of the Istari.
And their names were Radagast, Sauruman, Olórin, and Gandalf.
